tameside.online is an independent, public-first guide to Tameside. The aim is simple: bring useful local information into one place so residents, visitors, community groups and small businesses do not have to jump between several official registers just to answer everyday questions.
What the site covers
The guide is organised around Tameside towns and practical categories: schools, health and wellbeing, transport, community organisations, food and drink, public services, shops, trades and local businesses. It combines original editorial copy with source-linked listings from official and open datasets.
Where the data comes from
Current imports include public records from sources such as the Department for Education, Food Standards Agency, NHS Organisation Data Service, Charity Commission, Department for Transport NaPTAN, Ordnance Survey Open Names and Office for National Statistics/Census material. Each imported record should show source information where available, including a source link or update date.
How the directory is edited
tameside.online is not meant to be a raw scrape or a pay-to-play list. Public services and community information should remain visible for free. Some datasets are published directly when they are clearly useful public records. Company records from Companies House are reviewed before they appear: active, locally relevant businesses are published with a link back to the official register, while dormant, dissolved or low-information entries are kept unpublished so the site does not turn into a low-quality dump.
What is still in progress
This is an early working project. The public guide, search, town pages, source attribution and privacy-friendly analytics are live, but editorial review, directory filtering, contact workflows and wider quality checks are still being improved. The project TODO page is intentionally visible so progress and caveats are clear.
Independence and accuracy
tameside.online is not Tameside Council, the NHS, TfGM, the Food Standards Agency or any other public body. For official decisions, applications, emergencies, appointments or legal/financial matters, always use the official service linked from the relevant listing.
